Artist Profile: Leah

Fossi Baht creator and designer

Leah comes from California’s culturally rich Bay Area. She grew up with a passion for artistic beauty and completed her formal education with a bachelor’s degree in studio art. Leah’s decade-long practice in creation, from photography to ceramics to metal work to jewelry making provides her with a layered and informed approach to her glass jewelry construction and design.

Leah finds the inspiration to design and create her jewelry in the idea of “wearable art.” The notion that one could capture the softness of nouveau, the clean lines of deco, and the primal nature of humanity in her lines of jewelry served as a catalyst in the creation of her unique company, Fossi Baht.

Fossi Baht (pronounced FAH-see baaht) is based on the Latin word for “I made this.” The company is aptly named as Leah designs and constructs each piece by hand; first selecting the various glass elements, then cutting, grinding, fusing and detailing until perfection is achieved. Much of the collection contains dichroic glass, which possesses an inimitable class of sparkle that imbues the jewelry with reflective properties.

The rich hues and luminosity of Fossi Baht jewelry allows the wearer to communicate something both ethereal and striking. Whether she has selected a subtle pendant or a dramatic pair of earrings, whether she is youthful or mature, the Fossi Baht woman  steps out with the confidence of wearing distinctive beauty.

Leah insists on a perfection that results in the satisfaction of her clientele.  Meet with the designer by appointment.
